I think I can say with almost absolute certainty that no one reading this wants to suddenly find out their sewer line is clogged! That is the start of a very bad day. For most home owners, thinking about their sewer line is not a daily activity. But, it's hard to think of a part of the house that's used more on a daily basis. A functioning sewer line is one of the most critical parts of a home. How do you take care of it?
Luckily, this potentially costly repair can be easily discovered. If you're looking to buy a home, putting a camera down the sewer line is possibly the best money you'll spend on inspections. Sewer line problems can easily run into thousands and thousands of dollars to correct. Better to know that information before buying! But this inspection is something that any home owner can do. And if it hasn't been done in a while, or it's never been done, then now's the time!
One thing I don't mention in the video is that if you have discovered roots in the line in the past, they're likely to come back again. In addition to having the line cleared by a drain cleaning specialist, another routine maintenance option involves flushing copper sulfate down the line. Once it comes in contact with tree roots, it'll kill them allowing them to retreat or shrivel. This can be done a couple times a year to help prevent sudden surprises!
I'm happy to field any questions people might have that I can address in further videos. Curious about home maintenance or what to do to prepare a home for selling? Just let me know and I'll cover it in a future post & video!
